CAMPS BAY

Camps Bay has a palm-fringed pristine white beach which is a favourite with both locals and visitors

CLIFTON

Clifton forms part of "Millionaires Mile" This area is clearly the playground of the wealthy where apartments change hands for millions of Rand.

SEA POINT

One of the countries most populated areas. Sea Point is no longer the sought-after residential area it once was. It does however offer a vibrant nightlife with the many trendy nightclubs, bistros and all-night cafés.

GREEN POINT LIGHTHOUSE

Green Point Lighthouse was erected by Herman Schutte. The lighthouse was first completed in 1824 and had a simple oil lamp with a range of only 6 miles. Today the lighthouse has an 850 000 candle power light, which can be seen for 25 sea miles. On days when there is a fog at sea, the haunting sound of the foghorn can be heard, and is loved by everyone within earshot. The sound is often referred to as "Moaning Minnie"
A little further along, is a small amusement park for children, which incorporates the Serendipity Maze. (A series of hedged-in passage ways leading to the center) The remainder of the 739 ton "Athens" which came to grief there in 1865 can also be seen
The Green Point Golf Course forms part of the Green Point Common. It derives its name from the time when it was used by the local community as grazing land for cattle. Today it has many sports fields and is the home ground for at least four football teams
Somerset Hospital houses the Cape Medical Museum. In the museum is a photograph of Dr. James Barry who performed the first Caesarean Section. Upon Barry's death it was reputed that he was found to be a woman.

VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT

See the BMW Pavilion, which houses the Imax Cinema. Site of a huge shopping, entertainment and restaurant mall. Included is the Two Oceans Aquarium, the Maritime Museum, a Scratch Patch for semi-precious stones, the Clock Tower, Time Ball Tower, floating exhibits, the Red Shed Craft Market and a cinema complex.
