KAROO BOTANICAL GARDEN

Special Needs: The garden offers a trail for the blind with rope handrails and Braille signboards.
The garden opened in its present location in 1946. The botanical garden is the only truly succulent grarden in the southern hemisphere and on the African continent. It has over 300 protected species. From mid-August until the end of September, thousands of annuals and vygies come into full bloom..

KLEINPLAASIE

Kleinplaasie open air museum depicts the life and times of the early dutch farmers. Replicas of a kiln, milk room, tobacco shed, soap kitchen and a horse mill can be seen. Demonstrations are held daily and include milling flour and baking bread, tobacco rolling, blacksmithing and candle making. Make a point of tasting the local "witblits" - South Africa's version of "moonshine"

WORCESTER

Established in 1818 and named for Lord Worcester. Set in the valley of the Breede River. The countryside is fertile, with prosperous farms. Grapes are a major crop grown in great quantities. It has 17 co-ops and a number of distilleries. The Pioneer School & Workshop in Church Street is an outlet for products hand crafted by the blind.
